A first booking tells us that a rider likes the look of our bikes and service. A return booking tells us that the experience lived up to the promise.
Mick has returned to hire from us across eight cycling seasons. His visits reach back to the Murcia Bike Hire years and continue today with OriMar Bikes. During that time, the name and fleet have developed, but the standard he expects has remained reassuringly consistent.
His latest stay was at La Torre Golf Resort. Previous visits have also placed him closer to the Mar Menor at Los Alcázares and Roda Golf. Together, those bases have allowed him to experience two very different sides of cycling in the Murcia Region: fast coastal kilometres beside the lagoon and harder inland roads when the climbing legs are ready.
A returning rider is the strongest recommendation
Mick’s September 2026 Tripadvisor review begins with the words that matter most to us:
“The service has always been five star.”

That sentence carries more weight after repeated hires. Mick has seen different seasons, different bikes and different delivery locations. He knows what a correctly prepared rental bike should feel like, and he knows whether the service remains dependable after the first booking.
In the same review, he described the bike as immaculately prepared and highlighted delivery and collection taking place on time. Those details can sound ordinary until they go wrong. For a visiting cyclist with only a few days to ride, a reliable handover protects valuable holiday time.
This visit: cycling from La Torre Golf Resort
La Torre Golf Resort creates a different start from the Mar Menor coastline. The resort sits beside Roldán, surrounded by open agricultural roads towards Balsicas, Sucina, Avileses and Torre-Pacheco.
The immediate terrain is mostly flat to rolling, which makes it useful for steady tempo and endurance riding. Head east and the road network reaches San Javier and the Mar Menor. Turn west or north-west and longer routes can be shaped towards the Murcia foothills.
That range suits an experienced returning rider. An easier day can concentrate on smooth, open kilometres. A bigger day can deliberately seek elevation rather than hoping a coastal route will provide it.
Back beside the Mar Menor
One of Mick’s photographs places the red BMC beside the water, with the Mar Menor stretching away behind it. It captures the calmer side of riding in this part of southeast Spain.
From Los Alcázares and nearby Roda Golf, riders can build straightforward coastal and campo kilometres through San Javier, Santiago de la Ribera and the surrounding road network. The terrain encourages a steady rhythm, although the exposed lagoon means wind can change the effort quickly.
The attraction is not one headline climb. It is the freedom to decide what the day should become: a relaxed recovery ride, a controlled endurance session or the beginning of a longer loop inland.
Collado de los Ginovinos via Cabezo de la Plata
Another photograph shows Mick’s BMC at Collado de los Ginovinos, reached through Cabezo de la Plata. The landscape is a sharp contrast to the open water and level coastal roads.

The average gradient suggests a manageable climb, but averages never tell the complete story. The steeper ramps demand respect, particularly when they arrive after exposed approach roads or during warmer weather.
We will turn Mick’s ride into a more detailed La Torre Golf route Journal once the original Strava activity is available. That will let us describe the precise approach, total distance, elevation and return route rather than inventing a turn-by-turn account from photographs alone.
A bike prepared for the roads ahead
Mick chose a BMC carbon road bike for this trip. It is the right type of bike for a week that can move between fast Mar Menor kilometres and serious inland climbing.
Before delivery, every OriMar road bike is cleaned, inspected and prepared for the rider’s height, pedal choice and plans. The bike arrives with two bottle cages, a Garmin-compatible mount, a saddle bag, spare tube, tyre levers and hand pump. A track pump is supplied at handover.
Specifications matter, but preparation determines whether the bike feels ready from the first kilometre. Mick’s review recognised both sides of that equation: a top-spec carbon road bike and a dependable personal service around it.
New name, same standard
Mick first knew the business as Murcia Bike Hire. He now returns to OriMar Bikes. His story is a useful reminder that a rebrand only means something when the experience behind it remains recognisable.
OriMar has a clearer service area, a more focused fleet and better online tools. However, the foundations remain unchanged: honest communication, careful preparation, delivery when agreed and support from someone who knows the local roads.
