For the customer, bike delivery marks the start of the hire. For us, it completes a process that begins well before we load the bike.
Our road bike preparation before delivery covers every important detail. We clean, inspect and configure each bike for the individual rider.
Rental bike delivery preparation starts on return
Our rental bike delivery preparation begins when the previous hire ends. We do not simply park the returned bike until its next booking.
First, we clean the bike and inspect its overall condition. This process helps us identify wear or mechanical issues early.
We then complete any necessary maintenance before allocating the bike again. As a result, the next booking begins with a properly checked bicycle.
Road bike pre-delivery checks
Our road bike pre-delivery checks focus on the areas that matter most to the next rider.
We inspect the tyres, wheels, brakes, drivetrain and shifting. In addition, we check the frame and the bike’s general condition.
For electronic groupsets, we check the Shimano Di2 battery level. We then charge the system whenever necessary.
These checks allow the bike to leave the workshop ready for the planned hire.
Bike hire setup before delivery
Our bike hire setup before delivery uses the information supplied during booking. First, we confirm the correct frame size.
Next, we fit the customer’s requested pedals and other equipment. We also check any Garmin or Wahoo mounting requirements.
This preparation reduces the time required at the customer’s accommodation. However, we still complete the final rider setup during the handover.
We check every riding accessory
The standard road-bike setup includes practical riding equipment. Each bike carries two bottle cages, a Garmin mount and a saddle bag with roadside essentials.
We check these items alongside the bicycle. Therefore, accessories form part of the preparation process rather than an afterthought.
We can also prepare optional pedals, helmets and other requested equipment before delivery.
Careful loading and delivery planning
Once preparation ends, we organise the day’s deliveries geographically. This helps us manage the schedule and communicate realistic arrival windows.
We load every bicycle carefully and protect it throughout the journey. In addition, we secure the bikes to prevent movement during transport.
Careful planning also gives us enough time for each customer handover.
Completing the final handover
At the accommodation, we complete the final rider setup. We confirm the saddle position and explain anything relevant to the bike.
We also make sure the customer feels comfortable before the hire begins. Finally, we use a track pump to complete the tyre-pressure setup when required.
The handover gives the rider an opportunity to ask questions. It also allows us to confirm that the bike and equipment match the booking.
The OriMar Bikes delivery service
The OriMar Bikes delivery service operates within a controlled area. This approach helps us protect preparation standards and maintain a workable schedule.
We include the first 10 kilometres from our base at no additional charge. Beyond that point, the booking system calculates the relevant delivery fee.
Our maximum operating distance remains 50 kilometres from the OriMar Bikes base. We complete deliveries and collections from Monday to Saturday. We do not schedule booking starts or returns on Sundays.
By controlling the delivery area, we spend less time making unnecessary journeys. Consequently, we can devote more time to bike preparation and customer service.
