January 2026 marked a new chapter for OriMar Bikes. We relocated to Pilar de la Horadada, much closer to the coastal areas we increasingly wanted to serve. These included the Orihuela Costa to the north and the Mar Menor corridor to the south.
The move involved much more than changing our address. It gave us an opportunity to simplify the business and focus on what we wanted to do particularly well. That meant premium road bikes, careful preparation, accommodation delivery and useful local route knowledge.
A better base for the roads our customers ride
Pilar de la Horadada occupies a useful position for visiting cyclists. From Torre de la Horadada and Mil Palmeras, riders can head inland towards quieter roads and rolling terrain.
The wider Orihuela Costa also provides access to several popular coastal destinations. These include Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca and Villamartín.
Heading south takes riders towards the northern Mar Menor. Further along the coast are established cycling bases such as Los Alcázares and La Manga Club.
Geography matters for a delivery-based bike-hire business. A better-positioned base reduces unnecessary driving. It also creates more time for bike preparation, customer handovers and the practical work that improves the rental experience.
Starting 2026 with the BMC Teammachine SLR Five fleet
At the start of 2026, the BMC Teammachine SLR Five formed the centre of our premium road-bike fleet. Its carbon frame, Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting and hydraulic disc brakes reflected the standard we wanted customers to expect.
We never aimed to compete by offering the cheapest bicycle available. Many visiting cyclists already own high-quality bikes at home.
When they travel without their own bike, they need a credible alternative. Their rental bike should not compromise the character or enjoyment of their cycling week.

Delivery rather than a traditional rental counter
We prepare each bike before the handover and deliver it directly to the customer’s accommodation.
This service works particularly well for riders staying in villas, apartments, hotels and golf resorts. They can arrive, receive their bike and start riding. They do not need to build part of their holiday around visiting a rental shop.
The delivery model also influences how we prepare every bike. Before leaving the workshop, we check the rider information, saddle setup, Di2 charge, tyres and brakes. We also fit the requested pedals and prepare the relevant riding accessories.
Local route knowledge is part of the service
A premium bike only delivers its full value when the rider knows where to take it. Therefore, one of our priorities for 2026 was improving our cycling information.
We focused on the places where our customers actually stay.
The Orihuela Costa and Mar Menor do not form one uniform riding area. A cyclist staying at La Manga Club has very different route options from someone based in Los Alcázares or Cabo Roig.
Our Cycling Area Guides reflect those genuine starting points. They help visiting riders understand the roads, terrain and route options available from each destination.
The Mar Menor Cycling Area Guides bring together our destination-specific route and planning information. They are particularly useful for riders comparing different bases around the lagoon.
A simpler direction for OriMar Bikes
The January relocation helped clarify the direction of OriMar Bikes. We adopted a more focused delivery area, premium carbon road bikes and increasingly consistent fleet standards. We also began creating stronger local information for visiting riders.
That direction continued to develop during the spring. We established a new workshop and welcomed the first BMC Teammachine SLR Two bikes into the fleet.
Today, OriMar Bikes operates from Torre de la Horadada, within the Pilar de la Horadada municipality. This article records an important stage in the development of the business during 2026.
